Born in 1977, in Hokkaido, Japan, Rieko Tamura is a graduate of the Japanese Institute of Photography.

She currently lives in Tokyo and recently exhibited her work "TERMINAL BEACH" at the Marunouchi Gallery in Tokyo. Her interest in photography began while working at an advertising agency in 1998.

Inspired by the mystical forms of nature, Rieko Tamura is sensitive to Shinto and Buddhist beliefs and to any philosophy of the world influenced by respect for nature. This approach is reinforced by her mastery of monochrome gradient.

Since the 1950s, the Japanese art scene has been booming, allowing for the discovery of talented artists who unveil a new vision and offer work imbued with a true common culture. 

Rieko Tamura is directly involved in this movement. The subtlety of her images places her in the lineage of renowned Japanese photographers.

The works presents man's place in relation to nature and the elements. The passage of time and the environment around us are the worlds defended by the artist. Its seas are immensities over which neither man nor time has control. In doing so, she shows herself to be among those rare artists who can use black and white with dexterity.
